Kenya is participating in the Bride and Groom Expo 2018 in Uganda which begins today, Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th June 2018 at the UMA Exhibition Hall. Kenya is seeking to achieve top of mind awareness of her tourism offering and experiences among Ugandans.
The event not only aims to enhance Kenya’s brand visibility among Ugandans but also position Kenya as a year-round destination for weddings, honeymoons, and special occasions.
KTB Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Betty Radier has said Kenya – through KTB – is proud to be associated with the Bride and Groom Expo.
Dr. Radier said, “The expo provides us with an opportunity to intensify our engagement with the Ugandan travel market which is a key regional source market for Kenya. The expo will also present its expected 9,000 plus visitors with a unique opportunity to visit the Magical Kenya stand where they can sample Kenya’s diverse tourism experiences ranging from its beach and wildlife product to its rich culture and heritage.”
Nairobi and the Kenyan Coast remains popular destinations for honeymoon travelers from Uganda. Among the experiences that are most sought after by Ugandan travelers include shopping, education, and medical tourism with Uganda being the largest segment for Kenya’s medical services.
The Kenyan Coast is highly favored for relaxation while Nairobi remains popular for business, shopping, and social scenes. We would like Ugandans to sample more of Kenya’s unique honey moon experience.
The KTB CEO noted that the ease of movement between Kenya and Uganda both by road and air has made it easy and inexpensive for travelers to explore Kenya.
Dr. Radier added, “Kenya Airways operates regular flights between Entebbe and Nairobi. KTB anticipates that the entry of Jambojet, a low-cost carrier into Entebbe will make travel much more affordable to wider Ugandan population. Once in Nairobi, they can connect easily to popular destinations such as Mombasa and Diani by either by air, road or through the Madaraka Express Service on Mombasa-Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway (SGR).”
KTB’s participation at the Bride and Groom Expo is a continuation of an integrated consumer campaign dubbed #TugendeKenya that seeks to promote Kenya’s diverse tourism attraction among Ugandan travelers.
Uganda is currently ranked as Kenya’s number one source market in Africa and the third biggest source market internationally.
In 2017, the number of arrivals from Uganda increased by 20.6 percent to 61,542, contributing 6.4 percent of arrivals to Kenya.
